(29 November 2012) REMOVAL OF TOCHIGI AND GUNMA FROM THE LIST OF AFFECTED PREFECTURES FOR THE PURPOSE OF FOOD IMPORT FROM JAPAN

1.   Based on available monitoring data, Ministry of Health (MOH), Malaysia agrees to remove Tochigi and Gunma from the five (5) affected prefectures effective from 1 December 2012.


 


2.   Therefore, all food imported from Japan shall be accompanied with declarations of the Competent Authorities in Japan certifying the following:


 


   i.          The food is harvested and/or processed before 11 March 2011; or


  ii.          The food originates from a prefecture other than Fukushima, Iwate and Nagano; or


iii.      The food originates from Fukushima, Iwate and Nagano.


 


These declarations shall follow the format as in Appendix I.


 


 


3.   Effective 1 December 2012, mushrooms which originate from Iwate and Nagano and all types of food which originate from Fukushima will be subjected to Level 5 Examination (Hold, Test and Release) once the food arrives in Malaysia. The cost of analysis will be borne by the importer in Malaysia.


 


4.   The prefectures stated above and any other prefecture will be subject to review from time to time based on available monitoring data.
